Striking Control

The mobile experience that changed the sneaker game.

A smartphone displays a game titled Striking Control with a basketball player and electricity effects; the phone is centered against a dark, pixelated cityscape with glowing windows.

Insight

Jordan has been the global leader in trainer releases for over 30 years.

In recent years, competition for their online product releases has become so high, that an underground market of resellers has emerged.

They wait online for a product to drop and then buy out hundreds of pairs in seconds – leaving many fans empty handed.

Idea

Reward fans by transforming the shoe-buying process.

Striking Control: The CP3.IX-Bit Game: an interactive mobile web game became the access point for their latest signature shoe from NBA superstar, Chris Paul.

Players guide Chris through a retro-coloured, stormy cityscape as he dodges lightening bolts cast down by the collective power of Twitter.

When players reach in-game milestones, they unlock exclusive opportunities to purchase the shoe. The further the player progresses, the more exclusive products they unlock to access through Jordan.com and NIKEiD.

Impact

Fun, entertaining, and challenging. By transforming the shoe-buying process, true fans were rewarded for engaging with the brand.

Through a unique partnership with Twitter, fans can also tweet a lightning emoji with #StrikingControl – which become in-game lightning strikes to stop competitors in their tracks.
